    • Thought he was named George Joseph Zellner, Sr. until finding birth certificate when he filed for Social Security benefits, probably during 1950's. It listed his name as George Dewey Zellner.

      Grew up in St. Peter's Orphanage in Newark, but left as soon as he was old enough, possibly as early as age 12. Completed 8th grade at least.

      Bought local A&P grocery store he had worked in and managed it independently. Among his customers were Fanny Brice and Irving Berlin.

      Lived in Hillside (21 Looker St.) later in life.
