Sister Loretta was born in Newark, N.J. to August H. and Mary Mager Schirmer. She served as a teacher, principal and librarian at numerous schools in the Kansas City area (Lillis High School, St. Pius X-Mission, St. Benedict and Sacred Heart Schools - Kansas City, Kansas), in Maryville and St. Joseph, Mo., in Atchison, and Baileyville, as well as supervisor of the residence hall for Mount St. Scholastica Academy.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brother William, and her sisters Sister Mary Austin Schirmer, Catherine Schirmer and Elizabeth Burke. She is survived by her sisters Mary Agnes Schoenberger, Margaret Conlin, Teresa Piccoli, and Anne Marie Cuff, by nieces and nephews and by her monastic family. Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home (www.beckerdyer.com) is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be sent to Mount St. Scholastica or online at the Mount’s web site.
