      JEAN M. SCHIRMER, 88, of the Forked River section of LACEY, formerly of Hillside Township and Union, died peacefully on Saturday, June 21. Jean was a history teacher before she became a full-time mom of nine children. She was born March 1, 1920, in Norwood, N.Y.
      She was predeceased by two sons, Peter and Matthew. Jean was widowed after being married to Dr. William J. Schirmer for 61 years. Jean had 28 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Surviving are her daughters, Karen Coon and her husband, Paul, Forked River, and Ellen Schirmer of Keansburg; sons, Thomas and his wife, Phyllis of Stuart, Fla., Michael of Wall, Christopher and his wife, Karen of Pearland, Tex., Joseph and his wife, Susan, Forked River, and Paul and his wife, Tracy, Moyock, N.C.
      Layton's Home For Funerals, Forked River, arranged the Memorial Mass for 11 a.m. Friday at St. Pius X Church, 300 W. Lacey Road, Forked River, NJ 08731. Family and friends are asked to join the Schirmer family at Southwinds Grille, 361 East Lacey Road, Forked River, immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Embracing HospiceCare Foundation, 2101 Route 34, Wall, NJ 07719.
