      From Ancestry World Tree:
"My first recollection of uncle Steve was a trip to his home in
Hackettstown, New Jersey some time in the mid 50's. He was tall and
thin (at least to me at the time he appeared tall) and as old as dirt
even then. The house was set up in a very unusal way. The bed room
was just off the kitchen. You could not get to the rest of the house
without going through this room. That is how I know about "The
Clock". On the dresser was a large old clock, a wind up job, in a
wood cabinet with a face about six inches across. It was a clock more
suited to a fire place mantel, that maybe what it is called or"footed
clock". My cousin John and I noticed (actually John did he was very
fastidious) that the clock had stopped and offered to restart it.
Uncle Steve said "it's broken it won't run" but we were told later by
our parents, that uncle Steve had stopped the clock when his wife
died. My mom said that she had been sick a long time. That must have
been why the bedroom was where it was so that he could take care of
her better. The house had no electric service. This was the 1950's
mind you but the house was like a time capsule. The old flat iron I
have came from that house, given to me by uncle Steve that day so long
ago. Steve later moved back to Rockland County and lived out the rest
of his days with his brother Fred in Nanuet."
