Remo Daleno Bortolotti
Visitation for Remo D. ''Ray'' Bortolotti, 89, of Kankakee, will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Leah Pogemil-ler and Rev. Charles Wheeler will officiate.
Burial will be in Skyline Cemetery, Monee.
Memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Music Department.
Mr. Bortolotti died Tuesday (April 27, 1999) at Riverside Medical Center emergency room.
He was born Sept. 29, 1909 in Gallup, New Mexico, the son of Eligo and Katerina Cortasso Bartolotti.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army.
Surviving are his wife, the former Erma Friese Volden, whom he married Feb. 14, 1990 in Kankakee; two sons and one daughter-in-law, John Bortolotti of Chicago and Donald and Terese Bunna of Naperville; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Thorel and James Jogleski of Burbank, Rae Terese Bortolotti of Park Forest and Carol and Robert Trenary of Matteson; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Jack Riordan of Calumet City; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sons, James and Robert; two wives, Annabelle Furhman and Della Weston; two brothers; Romelo and Valentino; and one sister, Florence.
He was a member of the Roman Catholic faith and an associate member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Mr. Bortolotti was a self-employed caterer. He also worked at the Chicago Daily News and for the Tribune. After retirement, he worked for West Rich High School and was an active volunteer for St. Mary's Hospital for 10 years.
He was a member of the Manteno American Legion and the Kankakee Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge.
He enjoyed playing with pets, feeding birds and squirrels.

Remo "Ray" D. Bortolotti, a res-
ident of Kankakee, died Tuesday,
April 27, at Riverside Medical
Center.
A service was Saturday at Schi-
effler Funeral Home, Kankakee.
Interment was in Skyline Memor-
ial Park Cemetery, Monee.
Mr. Bortolotti was born Sept.
29, 1909, in Gallup, N.M. He was
retired as a self-employed caterer;
formerly worked for the Chicago
Daily News and Chicago Tribune;
later worked for West Rich High
School; was a volunteer at St.
Mary's Hospital for 10 years; a
member of the Roman Catholic
Church; an associate member of
Ashbury United Methodist
Church; Manteno American
Legion; Kankakee Moose Lodge;
and a U.S. Army veteran of World
War 11.
He is survived by three daugh-
ters, Thorel (James) Jogleski of
Burbank, Rae Bortolotti of Park
Forest and Carol (Robert) Trenary
of Matteson; two sons, John of
Chicago and Donald (Terese Bun-
na) of Naperville; a sister, Mary
(Jack) Riordan of Calumet City;
10 grandchildren; and 16 great-
grandchildren.
His wife, Erma, died Feb. 14,
1990.
